WOW!

PLEASE FORGIVE! Days and days have passed since my last entry, and this is highly annoying to me because it connotes a lack of time for me to relax and ramble as i so love to do....Poetry class, every Thursday night at the New School , has its demans, and though I enjoy them, they leave me little time to blog. Also,, so many of my private students are nearing their Senior recitals and that means extra coaching hours, so my red Dining Room is rarely empty these days! Whew! So much to get done, and so little time to get it done in.

ALSO, of course, there is this impending move back down to Abingdon, and our beloved Barter Theatre. We are packing madly, with an eye toward our December 17th moving date. Peter and I will be driving down with a load of stuff on December 1st, so we can take good stock of the house we have rented at on Stonewall Heights. We will take measurements, order cable hook-ups and computer service, phone lines, etc. and basically get ready for the move a mere 10 days later. It will be gargantuan. Or at least feel like it. It feels like we are really leaving home this time, oddly different from all the other times I have gone "on the road " before. This feels like something more permanent. This feels like maybe we are finally staging an actual exit from New York City, as hard as that may be for me to visualize right now. An actual leaving. Perhaps for good and for ever. There is, of course, much to write about concerning this topic.
And no doubt I will write all I need to in the days to come. But for now, all I can say is: both Peter and I no longer feel the love for the City we once felt. There are people here, of course, that we love and love deeply. There are plays we see that we could see no where else. Music we can hear, and art we can experience. Only in New York. BUT, the sad truth is there are too many other things that are not good for us here anymore. But more on that later.

We get very excited when we talk about the experiences and adventures that await us at the Barter. We love the Abingdon community. We admire the way the Barter engages in that community. We see the difference that engagement produces, in both the Theatre and in the community. We have valued friends we love there. Friends we have sorely missed. And it these wonderful friends who are creating the warmth and wonder of our return there.

I can write more later. Right now, I am too darned tired to type. I just did not want these pages to be neglected any longer. BY THE WAY: thank you to all who have written of their happiness at our return to The Barter. We appreciate your caring.
